Armenian Orange Cake

Fast, simple and absolutely delicious.
Ingredients: Cake 2 cups brown sugar 2 cups flour 1/2 cup butter 1/2 tsp. salt 2 tsp. grated orange zest 1/2 tsp. allspice 1 tsp. baking soda 1 cup sour cream 1 egg, slightly beaten 1/2 cup chopped mixed nuts (walnuts, cashews, almonds)
Topping 1 cup whipping cream 2 Tbsp. icing sugar 1 tsp. grated orange zest 2 Tbsp. orange juice or Grand Marnier
Instructions: To make cake: Preheat oven to 350 F. Grease a 9" springform pan. In a medium bowl, combine sugar, flour, butter, salt, orange zest and allspice. Blend with a pastry blender until crumbly. Spoon half into pan. Stir soda, sour cream and egg into remaining crumbs. Pour into pan; sprinkle with nuts. Bake for 40 - 45 minutes; cool. Remove springform and slide onto serving plate. Serve with topping. To make topping: whip cream until stiff. Stir in remaining ingredients. Let stand for 1 hour to let flavours blend.
